The IP address is the individual identifier of your computer on the local or wide area network. In certain situations, you may need to determine this address. How do you find out the IP of your computer?

External IP address serves to identify your computer on the Internet. The internal IP address must be unique for the local network, the external IP address must be unique for the Internet.

The first way is using the Windows service ipconfig. To use this service, you need to call the command line.



Click Start, select Run ..."(Or use Ctrl + R). In the "Open" field of the window that appears, type cmd and press Enter or OK. A command prompt window opens, in which you need to enter the command inconfig (ipconfig / all for more details) and press Enter.



If the computer is connected to the Internet directly, in the line "IP-address" ("IPv4-address") its external IP will be specified. If the computer is connected through a local network, you will see its internal IP address in this line, and you can find out the external IP by other methods, which we will discuss below.



The external IP of your computer can be seen in internet connection properties. If you have an operating system Windows XP, click "Start", select "Control Panel", in theyou need the "Network Connections" section. How do you know if your IP address is static or dynamic? To do this, you need to check yourIP address after each connection to the Internet. If it changes, then your external IP is dynamic. One check may not be enough, because sometimes it happens that the computer is assigned to the same external IP several times in a row, especially if there is not enough time between connections to the Internet.
