Patchouli oil and its beneficial properties
Healing properties of essential oils are already knownfor a long time, and recently aromatherapy has acquired a truly frenzied popularity. But if you use essential oils "blindly", not knowing about their properties, you can damage the body. The country of the Soviets begins to acquaint its readers with the properties of various essential oils. The first on the line - patchouli oil.
Patchouli is a species of perennial grassyshrubs from the family. The native land of patchouli is the Philippines, but now this plant is widely cultivated in various tropical countries for obtaining essential oil. The essential oil of patchouli is widely used in perfumery and aromatherapy. In perfume compositions, patchouli oil is used in the composition of the lower and middle notes, and about its application in aromatherapy we will tell in this article.
Patchouli oil has long been used in eastern folk medicine as a antiseptic, stimulant and gastric remedy. Indian healers used it with snake bites, and Arab healers as an antipyretic.
Bactericidal properties of patchouli oil are used now. In aromatherapy, this essential oil is used to treat skin diseases (for example, eczema), accelerate healing of small cuts and skin injuries, fight with fungus and acne.
The aroma of patchouli oil dulls the feeling of hunger and limits the appetite, so it can be useful if youwant to lose weight. In addition, patchouli oil helps to remove excess fluid from the body, so it helps to fight cellulitis and urinary tract diseases (in this case it is used as a diuretic).
Essential oil of patchouli has a beneficial effect on the nervous system. It calms and pacifies, helps to increase self-confidence. Patchouli oil helps fight stress, depression, nervous exhaustion, increases sexual activity.
Patchouli oil is also used in cosmetology. It tightens the skin, makes it smooth and supple. It can be used both for dry andoily skin. If you have oily skin, patchouli oil will help open the pores and clear them of excess sebum. A dry, irritated, sensitive skin patchouli oil will moisturize and soothe. And if you add oil to shampoo or hair balm (1 drop of 10 ml), it will help get rid of dandruff, make your hair strong and shiny.
But if you use patchouli oil for home use, do not forget about the main rule of aromatherapy: use the essential oil in its pure form is strictly prohibited! Exceptions are aromatic lamps and aromed metal, and that's because you inhale the oil in this case, not in its pure form, but after it dissipates in the air. Use patchouli oil in such proportions:
in aromalamp - 1-2 drops per 5 m2 premises;
in aromamedalone - 2-3 drops;
for aromatic - 6-7 drops per bath;
for aromamassage - 4-6 drops per 20 g of base (fat vegetable oil);
for skin care - 3-4 drops per 20 g of base (soft cream).
Deciding to take the aroma, remember that Patchouli oil, like other essential oils, does not dissolve in water. Therefore, you must first dilute the oil ina glass of cream, milk, kefir or natural yogurt without additives, and this mixture is poured into the bathroom. You can also drip oil in honey or a tablespoon of salt for a bath.
Patchouli oil serves as a stimulant for muscular activity, therefore it can not be used in pregnancy (especially in the first and last three months) and gastrointestinal diseases. Also, aromatherapy is not recommended for children under 1.5 years old, for older people, for asthmatics.
