Mulled wine and apple donuts
When winter sets in with its dark evenings, frosts and snow, we all want to warm up and eat something tasty. It begins the time of mulled wine, homemade cakes and gatherings with friends at the fireplace.
Rummaging through old cookbooks, you can find very original recipes. For example, a recipe for donuts with pickled in an aromatic alcoholic beverage apples.
In the original recipe, brandy is used, but wedecided to replace it with orange liqueur. Marinade makes apples soft, and orange water gives the apple an original taste. If there is no possibility to get orange water, it can be replaced with a pink essence or orange peel. Surprise your friends by offering them original baked goods with an unexpected filling!
Mulled wine
For 4 servings of mulled wine, you will need:
- 4 cups of cider;
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar;
- 1 orange, cut into plastics;
- 1 stick of cinnamon;
- 1 vanilla pod,
- cut into 2 parts.
Preparation:
1. Put all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil;
2. Reduce heat and cook on low heat for another 7-10 minutes;
3. Pour out the glasses.
Mulled wine can be cooked in advance and heated before serving.
Donuts
To prepare 4 servings you will need:
For the test:
- 250 grams of flour;
- 1 tablespoon (1 sachet) of dry yeast;
- 1 tablespoon of sugar;
- ¼ teaspoon of salt;
- 70-80 ml of water;
- 115 ml of milk;
- ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract;
- 1 liter of sunflower oil.
For apples:
- 2-3 apples (preferably Gal);
- 5 tablespoons of liquor Grand Marnier (can be replaced with any orange liqueur);
- 1.5 tablespoons brown sugar;
- 2 teaspoons of orange water (orange flavor obtained by distilling orange tree flowers);
- The zest of one lemon.
DFor cinnamon sugar:
- 1 tablespoon of sugar;
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Preparation of apples:
1. Peel the apple peel, take out the core and cut each apple into about 5 plastics;
2. Mix the liqueur, sugar, zest and orange water;
3. Put the apples in a bag, pour the resulting marinade, tie the packet and leave the apples marinated for about an hour.
Preparation of cinnamon sugar:
Mix sugar and ground cinnamon.
Preparation of donuts:
1. Heat water and milk together;
2. Mix all the dry ingredients, make a groove, pour water, milk and vanilla extract into it. Beat until smooth;
3. Put the dough in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, covered with a towel until the dough doubles;
In a large saucepan, heat sunflower oil;
5. Mix the dough well, remove the apples from the marinade and dry them. One by one put the apples in the dough. 6. With a fork, take the apples out in the dough and put them in boiling oil.
7. Fry until the donut is golden on both sides.
8. Put fried donuts on paper towels to get rid of excess oil. Then put the donuts on a plate and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
