That's only the prices for them are often depressing: often the prices for branded liquors go off scale. But it is quite possible to make liqueurs at home. Home-made liqueurs can be no less delicious than the famous Advocate or Cointreau.






Home-made liqueurs



In general, liquor is a fragrant, most often sweet alcoholic beverage. It is made on the basis of alcohol with the addition of sugar, fruit or berry juices, fragrant herbal infusions, spices, etc. Fortress of liquor depends on the alcohol content - it can be from 15% to 50% of the volume of the drink.



Home-made liquors are usually prepared on the basis of vodka. It is filled with berries, fruits, spices, etc., add sugar syrup, stand for several days or weeks, and then filter - and the home-made liquor is ready! The country of the Soviets will tell you how to prepare homemade liqueurs.



Orange liqueur



Home liqueurs from oranges are quite capable of eclipsing the notorious Curacao or Triple-sec. To make an orange liqueur, we will need:



  • 4 medium oranges

  • 700 ml of vodka

  • 450 ml of water

  • 300 g of sugar

  • 1 stick of cinnamon


Oranges should be fragrant, and vodka - quality, without flavors and fillers.



First, prepare the sugar syrup. Pour the water into a saucepan, bring to a boil, reduce the heat to a minimum and slowly pour sugar, stirring constantly. Cook the syrup without stopping stirring until it boils to a volume of approximately 400 ml.



Oranges mine, with a sharp knife we ​​cut off the zest(without a white shell) and finely cut it. You can remove the peel with a special grater. When the syrup is ready, remove it from the fire and put it into zest and cinnamon stick. Then cut the oranges and squeeze out the juice directly into the syrup. Lastly, pour in the vodka and mix everything thoroughly.



We pour the resulting mixture into a bottle (itshould not go up to the neck about 2 cm), tightly close the bottle and put it in a dark and warm (but not hot) place for three days. After three days, we filter the mixture, pour it back into the bottle, close it tightly and insist another couple of weeks. Ready orange liqueur to taste like Cointreau.



Cherry Liqueur



Until the season of cherries has passed, you can use ripe berries for the preparation of a fragrant cherry liqueur. To prepare a spicy cherry liqueur, we will need:



  • 1 kg of ripe cherries

  • 750 ml of vodka

  • 500 g of sugar

  • spice:

    • 1 bag of vanillin

    • 1 stick of cinnamon

    • 1 nutmeg

    • 2-3 cherry leaves


Cherries my, sort out, remove the stems andbones. We put cherries in a bottle with a wide neck and fall asleep spices. This recipe uses vanillin, cinnamon, nutmeg and cherry leaves, but you can use other spices. If you do not like spicy home-made liquors - you can do without spices at all.



Tightly clog the bottle and insist infor 8-10 days in a warm and dark place. We add vodka and insist another 4-5 weeks. We filter the liquor, pour it on bottles and drink - or wait for an excuse to have a drink.



Mint liquor



A fragrant and refreshing mint liqueur will give a special piquancy to the cocktails. For its preparation we take:



  • 5-6 sprigs of fresh mint

  • 500 ml of vodka

  • 400 g of sugar

  • 375 ml of water


My mint, cut and add to the jar. Pour mint vodka, tightly close the jar and put in a warm and dark place for a week. After a week, filter the mint tincture and add sugar syrup.



For the preparation of syrup, a sprig of mint is sliced,pour water and bring the water to a boil. Reduce heat to a minimum, pour sugar, stir and simmer for about a minute (it's important to keep sugar from burning). Ready syrup filter and add to the tincture.



We pour the mixture into bottles and stand for a few more weeks.
