When to start swimming for babies
Swimming is best for babies begin with the first days of their lives. At this time, water is the child's home environment. He still remembers how he swam in his mother's tummy, so holding the breath in the water is reflexive, and the fear of water does not arise.
Preparation for swimming
Swim the babies in your home bath. Before each session, wash it well soda and baby soap. Fill with water at a temperature of 36-37 degrees. Gradually, it is reduced to 25. At first, it is desirable to add to the water a strained, weak pale pink solution of manganese or broths of string and chamomile.
Different children are suitable for different temperature water. To determine the comfort temperature, observe the behavior of your child in the first minutes of bathing:
- if the child starts to cry in the water and after 3-5 minutes does not calm down, the water is cold;
- if after crying the child calms down and actively moves the handles and legs, then you have picked up the correct temperature of comfort;
- If the child does not want to move and is relaxed, the water is too warm.
Physical exercises
Infant swimming should be done at the same time 1.5 hours after meals, preferably in the evening, 1.5-2 hours before feeding. Too active children are recommended to swim.
Exercise "Spray"
The child is immersed in water (except the face). Parents show how splendidly splashes water, waves run up.
Exercise "Swam for the Dot"
Turn the baby on his tummy, support his chin with the palm of his hand. With the words: "Our ducky sailed away. We catch up with it "we try to catch up with the toy that floats ahead.
Exercise "Work with legs"
Useful for further training in walking. It is done alternately on the back and tummy. Swim to the side of the bathtub so that the baby rest on its feet. Reflectorically the children push their feet, you just have to catch the moment of repulsion and sail away.
Exercise "Swing"
Immerse the baby in the water with the tummy down, supporting it under the chin. Smoothly rock back and forth so that the baby dips into the water.
Exercise "Diving"
Dive gradually. On the account: "1, 2, 3 - dive," blow the child in the face intensively. He will close his eyes, wrinkle and hold his breath. Do not dip it in the water! Repeat this exercise for 7-10 days.
Supporting the chin on the account: "1, 2, 3 - dive," spray water in the face so that water does not get into the spout. Repeat 5-7 days.
First dive, when the child has already mastered the previous exercises. We perform on the abdomen, supporting the chin. Tell the familiar team and lower the baby for a second into the water. Spend 2-3 times for swimming. Learn short dives and go to long dives.
