Compote of strawberries and apples for the winter - a recipe with a photo, how to cook
Number of recipes of all kinds of blanks fromstrawberries exceed a few dozen - which, incidentally, is not at all surprising, because strawberries ripen first and for several months of summer it pleases with its rich taste and aroma. We offer you an unconventional recipe for compote made from strawberries for the winter - in addition to the strawberries themselves, there are also pieces of apples. For the preparation of compote is better to take apples sweet and sour varieties - then the finished compote will turn out with an unusual, sour taste, which will shade the natural sweet taste of strawberries.
Cooking this compote is very simple - in factin order to prepare strawberries for the winter in the form of compote, you will need no more than half an hour, even taking into account the time to prepare all the ingredients.
For the preparation of compote of strawberries and apples we will need the following ingredients:
- One and a half cups of sugar
- Two liters of water
- Six hundred-eight hundred grams of strawberries (you can take and frozen, but, of course, better fresh)
- One or two medium-sized sweet and sour apples
How to cook compote of strawberries and apples for the winter: step by step recipe
To begin with, we will sterilize the cans,which will be stored our compote throughout the winter. To ensure that the strawberries are not spoiled for the winter in a few weeks, it is very important to take the time to sterilize the cans for preservation - either in a water bath or, if you do not want to bother with this device, in a conventional oven. The main thing is that the banks are thoroughly washed and sterilized by steam or hot air from all microbes.
Now let's start preparing the ingredientsthe future compote. We sort out the berries of the strawberry, leaving only the whole, not spoiled, removing the pedicels, rinsing under a stream of cool water. Apples, if desired, are peeled (you can make compote and unpurified apples, it will not spoil the taste), remove the core, bones and tail, cut into small triangular pieces.
All the prepared ingredients are laid injars for canning and pour boiling water, and then let us brew for one or two hours. During this time, strawberry berries and pieces of apples will soften and let the juice come out.
Merge the resulting berry mixture into a saucepan (at the same time, and the strawberries and pieces of apples are left in jars) through a strainer or gauze, bring to a boil and add sugar.
Leave to boil for a few minutes,then pour the hot mixture back into the jars, cover with elastic bands and carefully close the lids. That's all - compote of strawberries and apples is ready, and, if you roll up the cans correctly, will be stored unspoiled throughout the winter, preserving its taste and aroma.
