Crosses - a traditional baptismal cookie

Honey Crosses
To prepare honey crosses for Epiphany, we will need:
- flour - 2 tbsp.
- honey - 300 g
- peeled nuts - 100 g
- vegetable oil - 2-3 tablespoons.
- spices (nutmeg, ginger, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, etc.) - 1 tsp.
- soda - 1 tsp.
- lemon - 1 pc.
- raisins for decoration
Take the kernels of walnuts, almonds or hazel andthoroughly rub or pass through a meat grinder. Nuts are combined with honey, vegetable oil, spices and lemon with zest, grated on a fine grater, carefully mix everything. Mix the flour with soda, add to the mass and knead the dough. Ready dough rolled out, cut out of it a cookie in the form of crosses and bake in the oven until ready.
Yeast crosses
To prepare crosses from yeast dough, take the following ingredients:
- flour - 1 kg
- water 250 g
- vegetable oil - 125 g
- yeast - 25 g
- sugar - 1 tbsp.
- a pinch of salt
- sweet strong tea for lubrication
- raisins for decoration
We mix the lean yeast dough, roll it out and cut out the cookies in the form of crosses. The center of each cookie is decorated with a twist, we grease the biscuits with strong sweet tea and bake in the oven until cooked.
Crouching Crosses
In order to make cakes, we take the following products:
- flour - 250 g
- oil - 125 g
- sugar - 2.5 tbsp.
- egg - 1 piece
- cognac or rum - 1 glass
- Vanillin and salt - to taste
We connect all the products, knead the unleavened doughand divide it into several parts. Each part is rolled into a bundle and we put the tows on each other in the form of a cross. Lubricate the baking sheet with fat, lay out the cookies on it and bake it in the oven to a ruddy golden hue.
