Lazy cabbage rolls are a dish of Polish cuisine. The original name sounds like "Bigos". The usual cabbage rolls from the lazy are practically not different, but the latter are much easier to prepare. Ingredients of the dish may vary - it all depends on taste preferences. Today we will prepare it in a classic way.







The recipe for lazy cabbage rolls



This is a hearty and fragrant dish, as nothing else is associated with home cooking. Lazy cabbage rolls are perfect for lunch or dinner. Pleasure your household with a useful treat!



Necessary ingredients:




  • cabbage - 500 g


  • vegetable oil - 5 tbsp. l.


  • onions - 2 pcs.


  • carrots - 1 pc


  • rice - 50 g


  • salt, pepper ground black


  • eggs - 2 pieces


  • minced meat (mixed or pork) - 500 g


  • sour cream - 5 tbsp. l.


  • tomato juice - 350 ml



Cooking method:




  1. Onion finely chop, and carrots grate on a large grater.


  2. Spread in a frying pan 3 tbsp. l. sunflower oil and fry the onions with carrots. Roast until golden brown, as well as the usual roast in the soup.fry vegetables


  3. Rinse the rice, rinse thoroughly several times and boil. As soon as remove the saucepan from the oven, drain the water and rinse again with cold water. Thus, it will not boil and will not soften.


  4. Slice the cabbage with neat squares.


  5. Put the stuffing in a bowl, add rice, eggs, onions with carrots, salt and pepper to taste. Mix thoroughly all the ingredients.


  6. Now go to the frying. First, heat the oil in a frying pan. Then spoon up the mince and form small cutlets. Fry each on both sides. Do not fry until ready, because there is still quenching ahead. Fold the cabbage rolls in a deep saucepan or special oven mold.stir fry forcemeat


  7. Next, we need to prepare the sauce. To do this, combine the tomato juice, sour cream, salt and lightly pepper. Pour the sauteed cabbage rolls and send to the oven, heated to 180 degrees. The cooking time will take about 45-50 minutes, but if you put in a cold oven, then 20-25 minutes longer.




All is ready! Serve with sour cream, vegetable salad or greens. The dish can be eaten even without garnish, so cabbage rolls combine in themselves both rice and meat.

Some additional recommendations for housewives:




  • If you want to make sauce more rare, then pour in 500 ml of water. This will not damage the dish, but will make it even juicier;


  • if the cabbage is too hard and dense, pour it over with steep boiling water and leave for about 5 minutes. This method will help make it softer, which is what we need for our dish;


  • if the cabbage leaves break up during the frying process, then add a couple of tablespoons of flour to the forcemeat. You can also add an extra pair of eggs;


  • Cabbage can not be cut, but chopped in a blender. So the cabbage rolls will become even more tender. But if you like to feel cabbage better in a prepared dish, then cut it with a knife;


  • It will be very unusual if you lightly roast cabbage in breadcrumbs;


  • instead of tomato juice, you can take tomato sauce or dilute a couple of spoons of pure tomato paste in water;


  • the dish will get more dietary if you use chicken minced meat;


  • rice can be replaced with corn groats. Especially children will like.
